OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, has recently fired its CEO, Sam Altman, for the inconsistency in communication between the board of directors and the CEO. The world is not the same from the time Chatgpt came to our hands.
It has become one of the most useful tools among techy and non-techy people. People are using this AI-powered tool for various research works, Code testing, Image generation and many other tasks. But why do the OpenAI board of directors fire its CEO when the company is at its peak? Let’s dig deep into it.
Sam Altman – CEO of OpenAI
The man behind this incredible AI tool is Sam Altman, the former CEO of OpenAI. Sam Altman & Greg Brockman co-founded ChatGPT, which has become one of the most popular tools of today’s era.
He has served as CEO of OpenAI from 2020 to 2023 and has become a household name over the last year since the launch of ChatGPT. The improvement of ChatGPT from GPT 3 to 3.5, 3.5 turbo & 4 is incredible & became possible under Sam Altman’s guidance.
ChatGPT got 1 million users in just five days & it also went down many times when it launched due to the high number of users at one time. Sam handled it very effectively and made it fixed within a few months. After that period, it never went down, irrespective of the user numbers.
OpenAI shared a post with reasons for a leadership change. They said, “Mr Altman’s departure follows a deliberative review process by the board, which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities,”
Sam Altman also shared a post on X about his experience at OpenAI. He briefly explained how he felt working at OpenAI & his future plans.
The next CEO of OpenAI – Mira Murati
After Sam Altman, the present CTO of OpenAI, Mira Murati will be the interim CEO of OpenAI until a proper replacement is found for this tech giant. She has been super efficient throughout her role as a CTO, and hence, she was chosen by the board of directors as an interim CEO for the company.
She has a really strong vision for the company, as she shared in an interview. She said, “We used to see people using a lot of manual labour to do a lot of repetitive tasks that cost a lot of time and money.
In OpenAI, we wanted to reduce that by automating most of the tasks using Artificial intelligence & machine learning. After GPT 4, we have also seen that it’s also efficient for the toughest exams like SAT, LSA, etc.
So we’re constantly improving our platform, and we’ll continue to do so to give more convenient AI assistant to the world.”
OpenAI Co-founder Resigned
After seeing this news, the OpenAI president, Greg Brockman, also sent a letter to the board announcing his retirement. He also shared a post on his X handle explaining his retirement and his experience working in OpenAI.
He has shared how they started, how they saw the tough times during the starting period & how they handled those efficiently. He also mentioned how they celebrated the great they have had and the mission on which they worked for years to make it successful.
He wished Sam the best for his future endeavours and shared his belief regarding Artificial intelligence. Greg strongly believes that crafting efficient AI models will benefit mankind in a lot of ways to reduce manual labour, and he will continue to work on this mission in different ways throughout his life.
